Are you experiencing Menopausal symptoms?
The average age for women to experience menopause is around 51 but changes can occur much earlier in a period called the peri- menopause.
Women can also go through early menopause for a number of other medical reasons.
During Peri-menopause (the period before your actual periods stop ) and Menopause, hormonal fluctuations occur.
These fluctuations can trigger many changes throughout our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies.
Menopause seems to have been one of the last taboos until recently where women have silently endured the many hormonal, physical and psychological changes that can occur during this transitional period of our lives without support or information to guide them through.
We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” – Maya Angelou
Each woman is different and although some women report sailing through this period for many it can be a very stormy and challenging transition. This can depend on many different factors such as age, family history, medical history and whether menopause has been induced by cancer treatments or surgical procedures.
There is no 'one for all' approach when it comes to managing the symptoms of menopause.
Menopause itself is not a illness, but is a transition period into the next chapter of life and symptoms can often be managed. By being well informed, talking and sharing our experiences we can navigate a path that works best for our own personal well being.
There are a vast array of symptoms that can manifest during menopause such as:
heightened emotions
anxiety & depression
Low self esteem
weight changes
erratic & missed periods
insomnia, night sweats
hot flushes
joint pain, breast pain
low energy & fatigue
pelvic floor & vaginal changes
Recurrent UTI's
Difficulty concentrating
and many more which we will discuss
These changes can often have a dramatic impact on our lives.
Many women, though once through the other side experience the post-menopause period as wonderfully liberating and find renewed energy, vitality and confidence in this new chapter of life.
By using the metaphor of the caterpillar to butterfly, emerging from this cocoon is always going to be challenging and transformative.
Yoga and Meditation has proved to be a excellent tool in helping to deal with the related symptoms during this transition. Helping to relieve stress and anxiety, enhancing our wellness by moving our bodies, finding space within in a mindful, gentle and heartfelt way.
This workshop is designed to give you a informed introduction to menopause and the many changes that can occur. "I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, meeting ladies akin to myself and sharing our journey/stories/experiences and realising that you are not alone or going insane was so uplifting and inspiring. Your kindness, knowledge, sharing and support throughout the session blew me away. I particularly took 'changing woman' away with me and it has helped immensely...I will be coming out the other side a 'new empowered me'
I have been researching trying to make sense of whats going on with me for 4 years (last 2 in particular ) Your absolutely right when you say its finding our own pieces of the puzzle to complete our own pictures and that our experiences may often not be the same as others . I just feel relieved and able to move forward. Thank you so much for making it such a enjoyable and knowledgeable afternoon."
